Asco (Samick) guitar - vintage post-lawsuit ~1979 made in Korea

Welcome to another fine guitar from The Old Europe! Please make sure to read the entire description below carefully, and look at all the pictures.

General introduction and background:

Super nice "Asco" LP-style guitar. Built in the late 1970s in South Korea by Samick.

The guitar does not have an "open book headstock", so it is clearly made AFTER the "lawsuit" between Gibson and Hoshino, after which all Asian companies more or less ceased making copies with the exact headstock of the originals. Unfortunately I was not able yet to determine to whom the brand "Asco" belonged. But the guitars were all made by Samick.

Measurements, weight and other specs:

-     Scale: 628 mm

-     Nut: 42 mm

-     Weight: 4,14 kg

-     Pickups: unlabelled humbuckers with PAF-like (~8 kOhm) output;

-     Body: multiply of unknown wood.

-     Neck: likely mahoganey with rosewood fingerboard

Condition:

-     Body: some dings and dongs, lacquer damages and small scratches and fissures, but nothing serious. Please have a close look at all the pictures.

-     Neck: straight neck, good frets with some minor wear (7/10), truss rod works but is a bit stiff; No cracks.

-     Electronics: fully functional, standard layout. The pickups are "out of phase" when combined, and the volume pots are full on. Turn one of them down a bit to remedy the effect.

-     Hardware: fully functional, all cleaned but minor traces of corrosion and age remain.

-     Originality: All original as far as I can tell except for the strap pins and the pickup frames.

Sound and Playability:

-     Playability and string action: The guitar plays easily with a low string action currently set to 1,8 mm on the 12th fret, low and narrow vintage frets, thin neck (42mm nut, thin C-profile). Warm sounds from the pickups. The frets have been polished as much as I could without sanding them further down.

 - Intonation: spot on, adjustable with the bridge

-     Sound: vintage to classic rock sound from the humbuckers, moderate, warm. Please watch the video for a reference.

Repairs, Service:

-     Complete cleaning of body, parts and fretboard

-     Frets polished and fretboard oiled

-    Full check of the electronics, the wiring is all ok.

-     New 10 gauge Pyramid nickel strings put on

-     Set up as good as possible

-     Ready to be played (just tune it up)

-     No case included. Will be shipped in wrap and sturdy cardboard box.

AFTER DELIVERY: After receiving the item, please inspect the package for obvious damages and make photos if there are any. After unpacking, check the item immediately for damages or other undocumented flaws. I accept a 14 days return and will pay for shipping if the item is in a different condition than described upon arrival. Please note that I will only take the item back entirely, but not grant any reduction of price and generally only accept returns if the item was unaltered after arrival.

CITES protection: all of the items I sell have been legally imported to the EU before January 1st 2017 and are registered with the authorities in Hamburg, Germany (if applicable).
