The Sanctuary Perspective

The Radial Headbone VT is a specialized, tour-grade audio switcher engineered to let you toggle safely between two distinct tube amplifier heads using a single speaker cabinet. Switching tube amplifiers while playing is traditionally dangerous—if a tube amp is disconnected from a speaker load while driven, catastrophic output transformer failure will occur. The Headbone VT solves this by using high-speed opto-coupler audio circuits combined with heavy-duty mechanical relays. The moment you switch heads, the Headbone instantly connects an internal load resistor to the standby amplifier before seamlessly transferring the active speaker output, allowing you to combine vintage cleans and modern high-gain tube heads on stage without carrying multiple speaker cabinets.

Product Intelligence & Rig Engineering Profile

• Best For: Touring Guitarists, Dual Tube Head Stage Rigs, Studio Amp Shootouts, Space-Conscious Stage Layouts, and Tone Layering.
• Sound Character: 100% transparent and uncolored with zero signal loading, preserving the exact dynamic feel, pick attack, and harmonic detail of both tube heads.
• Compared To: Eliminates the need to carry two heavy 4x12 or 2x12 speaker cabinets to gigs, providing safe, instant, single-cabinet A/B head switching that standard guitar ABY boxes cannot perform without blowing up tube output transformers.
• Sanctuary Expert Note: "The Headbone VT is the ultimate problem solver for players who refuse to compromise on tube tone. If you want the pristine headroom of a vintage Fender or Vox head for cleans, but need the crushing gain of a Marshall or Soldano head for leads—and only want to haul one cab to the gig—the Headbone VT makes it happen safely and silently."

Key Features & Stage Engineering Highlights

• Safe Dual Tube Amp Switching: Internal dummy load resistor automatically clamps to the idle tube head the millisecond it disengages, preventing open-circuit transformer burnout.
• Opto-Coupler & Relay Logic: High-speed photocell circuits handle input signal routing for dead-quiet switching, while heavy-duty power relays manage high-current speaker output paths.
• SafeShot Digital Micro-Controller: Internal microprocessor manages precise timing sequences to ensure complete speaker contact before the instrument input signal engages.
• Direct & Remote Switching Control: Command channel changes directly via the onboard footswitch or remotely using standard external latching footswitch controllers or MIDI loop switchers.
• Integrated Drag Control Load Correction: Built-in Drag Control lets you fine-tune guitar pickup loading to restore the natural feel and response of plugging directly into a tube amp.
• 14-Gauge Heavy-Duty Steel Enclosure: Housed inside Radial's signature roadworthy steel chassis to handle heavy stage abuse and isolate sensitive internal relays from magnetic field interference.
