High quaility Fransico Esteve GOYA 6 1980s Solid Cedar classical guitar made in Spain
New set up and sounding great.
Neatly strung with D'Addario Pro-Arte hard tension, I have also cleaned and hydrated the fretboard and polished every individual fret using a template and the guitar now looks and sounds great.
- Top: Solid red cedar
- Back & Sides: Laminate Mahogany
- Neck: Mahogany
- Fingerboard: Indian Rosewood
- Beautiful hand inlayed Rosette
- bridge (ebionized)
- Nickel plate tuners (working very nicely)
- Signature Esteve headstock (oval mark from where the gold Solid Top sticker was, which I removed as it looked scruffy)
- 4.5mm action on the 12th low E (I can lower if needed but this feels right for the guitar
Measurements
- length 100cm
- shoulders 29cm
- waist 24cm
- widest 39cm
- depth 9.7cm
- nut/neck width 52mm
The guitar compares well to my old Esteve 4STE but is labeled under the Vintage GOYA brand made for the respected Juan Teijeiro Music Co in London.
I have read this is the same spec as the Esteve M1 but this guitar will benefit from the aged woods and sound a lot warmer.
I can fit medium tension strings if you would prefer but the Pro-Arte hard tension work great because of the playabilty of the guitar.
The guitar will be well packed comes with a new padded bag and will be sent via UPS express.
*please note there is a 8.5" top finish split (hairline crack) You can not feel at the bottom so can be sealed at the top with a thin glue (I've seen some cool videos on Youtube on how to do that but have not attempted myself, no movement but should be sealed to stop spreading or perhaps you can just stick a tap plate over the areas.
The guitar also has a few dings, a touch on binding wear and some oxidation (vanish clouding on the Spanish heel) I've pictured all of the marks including the split which you can see is very thin and dead strait making it easier to seal.
This guitar really has had a lot of work to improve the tone and playabilty. The factory set ups on these are too high at the nut and saddle end so you'd be looking at paying $50 for a set up had this work not been down, you really do benefit from the aged woods and optimised new set up.
The sound of this guitar is better than my old Alhambra 3C, and Cuenca 30 and has Incredible warmth and is well balanced with a typically Spanish tone lovely bass response, strong projection and nice clear trebles even past the 7th fret.
The action is perfect for me at 4.5mm on the 12th low bass E and the set up feels perfect for classical music in particular. I can take the action down a notch to 4mm if required and fit a harder tension string at no extra cost.
This guitar is perfect if your progressing in your playing, and want more sustain and projection for classical pieces. I've played guitar for 20 years and find it a joy to play.
The guitar is perfectly intoned and I've not played many guitars under $500 of this quality.
These are hand made guitars remember, not printed out like cheap factory made models , this guitar benefits from a new set up and the soundboard being fully open which takes 3-5 years and still improve in warmth afterwards. This guitar is at least 30 years old.
The guitar will be well packed comes with a new padded bag and will be sent via UPS express in a strong box. Please read my feedback for guitars sold to the U.S on here.

I have also been on eBay for over 10 years with 100% positive feedback under "brightonvintageclassic" and have sold 100s of classical guitars over the years.
I set up guitars to optimise their playing and always find the right balance of tone Vs playability so you are in good hands.
Thanks
Antony
