Hand made Yairi Soloist classical guitar dated 1968 serial 726 (both hand penned)
*this is the final reduction on this guitar for today only (19th August), I think it's looking too cheap and after today will be going back up to $229 and not selling for a penny or cent less as I know this guitar has more value. it's just the arena i'm selling in which is relatively new to me*
Solid aged Spruce Top
Laminate Mahogany back and sides (one piece back)
Bone nut and saddle
nice set up and incredible tone
Action at 4.7mm on the 12th (not room to go lower but in my view this is a perfect balance action on this guitar keeping the projection and sustain strong for classical pieces.
A battered example of one of these sold for £515 on reverb last year so what i'm asking is a low price for one that actually looks nice and if you seal one of the cracks or tidy up the most noticeable it will look great.
diamond shaped wooden inlay repair under 11th fret
*does not affect playabilty and is in between notes.
All frets look lovely and are nicely crowned (no sharp or damaged frets, the 11th fret was obviously removed as part of a fretboard repair but does not stand out to be a new Vs older fret.
Soundboard damage in detail.
A few (3) top splits, some barely visible and hair thin , could be sealed I have just used clear tape but it's a good idea to have the main offender secured underneath and then re sealed/glued at the top.
The most noticeable split/crack looks more like a scar and does not extend past the bridge, I don't think this crack needs support as there is no movement and nowhere for it to go/spread, as with a another hairline crack also meeting the bridge. So the two cracks are 12.5cm but end at the bridge.
The longest crack is hairline should be sealed as I detected very small movement when applying pressure and this top crack is line with the edge of the bridge and has extended further so ideally should be sealed as it could spread over the years, although has thinned out towards the end.
This thin crack measures 21.5 cm but is barely visible but I think should be sealed due to slight movement at the beginning of the crack before it extends past the bridge.
Saying all that the guitar sounds amazing! absolutely beautiful tone so these thin cracks have not compromised the sound. And some of these turn up looking like someones gone to war with them so a few supports and some thin superglue and these top splits will never cause any problems. 2 of them could be invisible repairs as they are so think. the lowest is the most visible but has not compromised the guitar in anyway.
There is no buzzing or anything sinister, just a good idea to have the crack that extends the bridge sealed. Ironically the most noticeable bottom crack just looks like it's healed over and has strengthened (i'm not sure if thats possible but I mean I can tell it's not a problem.
No bridge lifting
lots of nips and light scratches
Headstock tip dings to the underside
side scuff and a few side scratches
Some back of the neck scratches nothing major
Mahogany back has no dings or cracks just light surface scratches so still looks great as you can see.
Rosewood Tip and Spanish Heel outer has some glaze/finish lines, but the neck is rock solid from the inner bracing so these are just marks to the finish. there is no separation movement at the heel just finish hairline cracks.
neck/top fretboard varnish finish pitting on the first few frets (very common)
Tuners all work and hold great tine, no cracks in the barrels and are the original tuners, I might upgrade them to GOTOH gold plated. (I can purchase and fit those for only £30 for you. The current tuner work great but I feel the guitar deserve slighter better ones, given the quality of the woods used and sound.
The guitar wont be for condition snobs but if your after a high quality hand made vintage classical by a great maker, you have found one.
Look up Sado Yairi maker and talks on forums about these guitars as they sound fantastic and you can not do better for you money, this one needs some TLC/Luthier work on 1 of the cracks but has never bothered me.
The guitar is not listed elsewhere and I can tell you with 20 years of playing experience that this is a fantastic instrument.
Any questions, i'm happy to help and I offer refunds on guitars unlike many sellers as I'm confident in the guitars I sell that i'm happy with.
