About This Listing

Buckle up, this is going to be a wild ride.

This Custom Taylor guitar is an absolute cannon with commanding bass and crisp upper midrange sparkle that sings when you strum hard and shimmers with a soft touch.

An unusual combination of tonewoods: Western Red Cedar on top of a specially selected set of Cocobolo back and sides with a stunning sapwood figure on the sides and a 3 piece back.  The guitar is tastefully appointed to highlight the wood choices with only modest cosmetic jewelry.  There's an abalone rosette and white binding on the body and fretboard, and cool little oval fretboard inlays in pearloid.  The guitar has its own bold style with a Florentine cutaway so you can get all the way up to the 20th fret if you need to.

The GraphTech Tusq nut is spaced at 1 3/4" for a comfortable medium feel that matches well with the 25.5" scale length.  Equipped with the Taylor Expression System, the guitar is gig-ready for whenever that's a thing again!

The long story:  This guitar has been with us for a few years now and it's had a rough time.  It shows a few repaired cracks from climate fluctuations as it was displayed in one of our retail stores through a cold winter with poor humidifcation.  We had it repaired by an authorized Taylor service center, and it's structurally solid and plays and sounds as if there was never an issue, but cosmetically you will notice the marks from where the wood separated.

Also, and perhaps inexplicably is the right word to use here, along the way the original Taylor hardshell case was misplaced, so the guitar will come with a generic hardshell case that is a good fit, but is not original to the guitar.

If you're looking for a unique tone monster and want something incredibly nice to play daily, but don't want the fear of scratching up an investment piece, this guitar could be the right choice for you.  As a lefty myself I struggle to recall a nicer sounding and playing dreadnought that I've had the joy of playing before.

Please reach out if you have any questions about this fascinating instrument.  We are hoping to find it a forever home at long last.
