The Martin D-35 has always been a favorite for countless players for its big Dreadnought voice and its striking three-piece back. Martin has reimagined this legendary dreadnought model with an array of updates for 2018. Not to worry though; the D-35 still retains the traditional pairing of tonewoods in the iconic dreadnought shape to produce that incredible sound the D-35 is famous for. Premium hardware ties together this modern take on the classic 35-style dreadnought. If you're an acoustic guitar player who adores vintage instruments but needs a more modern guitar, you will absolutely love this D-35.
D-35 Updated for 2018
As a member of Martin's reimagined Standard Series lineup, the D-35 has undergone some changes that enhance tone, playability, and style. For starters, the D-35 is now supported by forward shifted bracing, which will give this already deep-voiced dreadnought some extra low-end punch and power. As far as playability is concerned, the D-35 now employs Martin's contemporary High Performance neck taper and a slightly wider 1-3/4" nut width to give it a more modern, comfortable fretting-hand feel. Aesthetically, this dreadnought screams old-school vibes with the addition of vintage-inspired aging top toner, Antique White binding, and a faux tortoise pickguard.
Traditional Pairing of Tonewoods in the Iconic Dreadnought Shape
The beautiful three-piece back is an essential D-35 element, and this incarnation is no exception. Featuring premium Indian rosewood back and sides, a Sitka spruce top, and a 14-fret dreadnought body, the D-35 remains true to the classic ingredients that allow it to deliver all the tonal depth, complexity, and sonic horsepower that you've come to expect from Martin's 35-style dreadnought. Strummers and flatpickers alike will love the rich, full-bodied tones this acoustic guitar pumps out.
