For sale is a 1966 Slingerland kit I picked up on Guitar Center and restored. I believe this is a Gene Krupa Deluxe Model, based on the sizes, and the style of rail consolette. The only date stamp is inside the floor tom which says “Aug 66”. This is a great sounding kit, everything you want in a vintage Slingerland. I am listing these as good condition, but most flaws that exist are due to my error rather than the age of the drums. Please message me with questions. Open to reasonable offers.
Sizes are 20/13/16 plus an additional 15” floor tom (more on that below). The original wrap was a very worn white satin flame (see last pic), which I removed and then re-wrapped in gold glass glitter from Precision Drum. When wrapping the floor tom, I got slightly off track, resulting in a very small section of the reso side, where you can just barely see about. 1/16” of wood (it’s close to the seam which I keep toward the back, so it’s not visible). There is also one extra hole behind each bass drum spur (also not really noticeable). Shells and bearing edges are in good condition. The bass drum and 13” tom have gold and black Niles badges and the floor tom has a silver and black Niles badge, but they all had the same original wrap, so I’m sure they are all from the original kit. I’m told Slingerland often played fast and loose with their badges. Lastly, the floor tom legs and brackets are not original but were there when I got them. And the bass drum cymbal arm is one I added. I also added modern bass drum spurs because the original spurs were in rough shape, and not very sturdy. But the cymbal arm mount and the rail consolette are original. All three drums have the original functional dampeners.
Also included is a 15” Slingerland floor tom, which I bought as a 70’s concert tom, and converted into a floor tom. The wrap makes the heads super tight and a little tricky to tune, but once dialed in, it’s sounds great and fits right in.
