G&L ASAT B5 - Super Rare!

Behold, the Holy Grail!

This is the ultra-rare G&L ASAT B5, likely the rarest of all G&L basses.  Only a handful are known to exist.  

This is the five-string version of the common 4-string G&L ASAT bass.  They were built in very limited numbers in the late 90's and never were produced as a standard model.  This example has a beautiful Three Tone Sunburst finish, with the headstock painted to match.  Both the top edge of the body and the neck have the optional white binding.  G&L builds amazing basses, but they really outdid themselves with the fit and finish on this one. You really get the sense that they put a little extra into this rare bass.

This bass comes with an extra lined fretless neck!  It's a beautiful piece of figured maple with the edge markers aligned with the fret positions, as they should be.  It looks to be unplayed.  It looks like the nut chipped a bit when it was being cut.  As you can see in the photo, the only hardware included are the tuner bushings.

Condition wise, the only thing keeping me from describing it as mint is a very small ding on the end of the headstock, too small to photograph.  Other than that, it looks like it was built yesterday.  Fret wear is nearly undetectable.  The neck is straight and stable, and is set up with a fairly low action without buzz.  Tone-wise, this bass delivers everything you would expect from an MFD-equipped G&L.
