Wandre Pioli, born in 1926, was a true innovator in guitar design. He learned the trade from his father who was also a renowned luthier in Cavriago, Italy which is only a stonesthrow away from the home of Stradivarius, Cremona. He was notably the first one to use aluminium necks in combination with easthetically unique body shapes. Wandre designed the "broom stick" neck to solve the problem of "warping" necks which happened a lot to guitars which used softer Italian tonewoods. The tilt of the neck can also be easily adjusted always ensuring optimal playability, to avoid a cold sensation on the back of the neck a simple adhesive tape was applied. Playing a Wandre guitar is a completely unique, and surprisingly comfortable experience.
This Wandre Waid model from 1959 is not only extremely rare, but also in extraordinarily great shape. The finish hardly shows any signs of playwear, only a few shallow dings and one lacquer crack on the back of the body. The instrument is also entirely original including Davoli pickups, pickguard, bindings (which were partially reglued), tailpiece, wiring and pots (just a few newer solder joints). Included is a 5- to 6mm jack converter so you can use the guitar with a standard cable. Even the original Wandre strap is included!
