Slingerland 4pc “Super Rock” Drum Set

All four drums have 5 ply maple-poplar-maple-poplar-mahogany shells from the late 70’s or early 80’s. All drums have Niles badges starting with 4448xx indicating they were a factory matched set. Shells are in round and the 45 degree bearing edges are very good. Black Diamond Pearl finish was polished and looks like new! The inner maple shells were given a light coating of Tung oil. All hardware was dismantled, cleaned and lightly lubed before re-assembling. Some lug casings were replaced due to pitting. 

24” bass drum (24 X 14)

Niles badge serial number 444827. Hoops were refinished as the original inlays were rusty and pitted. The inlays were cleaned and then covered with automotive mirror chrome wrap and then lacquered. All four spur mounts are present and have helicoil inserts (came that way) and function correctly. Resonant side retains all original Slingerland T’s and claws. Set-O-Matic mount functions correctly and the tom tree was added (originally missing). Only thing to mention on this drum is some tom rash near the batter head under the 14” tom (right side from the batter). There is a small hole and an area of scuffs about the length of a quarter. This is not very noticeable due to the “busy” nature of this wrap. This is the only real defect on the entire set. Heads are original Slingerland and resonant head came from another drum. 

Replacement parts include: 10 Gibraltar T-rods and 10 claws on the batter side. One pair of Gibraltar 3/8” spurs mounted on the front pair of spur mounts. 

18” floor tom (18 X 16)

Niles badge serial number 444896. All four leg mounts have helicoil inserts (came like that) and function properly. The legs were pitted and rusty and had to be cleaned with a wire wheel. As such, they feel rough to the touch. New feet were added. Tension rods are Slingerland.

Both rims are Gibraltar replacements. Heads are both Evans (Hydro and G1)

14” ride tom (14 X 10)

Niles badge serial number 444895. Set-O-Matic mount was reworked. Tension rods are Slingerland. Top edge of wrap has darkened, possibly due to sitting un-used with a rusty head and rim. 

Both rims are Gibraltar replacements. Heads are Evans and DW. 

13” ride tom (13 X 9)

Niles badge serial number 444892. Set-O-Matic mount was replaced. Tension rods are Slingerland. Top edge of wrap has darkened, possibly due to sitting un-used with a rusty head and rim.
