Lakland 55-94 Prototype Lightwave Fretless(one of a kind)

I am selling the only existing Lakland bass equipped with the Lightwave pickup system. This bass was featured at the Lakland Booth at NAMM, and appeared in the 2001 Lakland catalog. It has a Alder 55-94 body, and lined Ebony fretboard. I am the original owner, and it is in very good shape. It includes a Lakland hard case. 

Here are the issues with the instrument.

1. The battery no longer held a charge and has been removed. The instrument is fully functional when connected to the power supply/wall wart(12 feet long cable). This is how I've used the bass from the beginning regardless, as I prefer not to trust batteries in my gear. So this may be a big deal for you, or not matter at all. It is possible to have the system adapted to the current Lightwave battery.

2. There was a fat finger attached to the headstock for a while that has buckled the "d" in the Lakland logo slightly, and made the finish a bit more shinny under where it was mounted.

3. I find 5 dings/scratches on the edge of the body, and two on the back. The most significant is a chip on the top edge. I can find no faults on the front of the bass. I have done my best to show the condition in the pictures. The dings on the back were too small to photograph.

4. Not an "issue", but be aware that the Lightwave pickup system is complex. If repairs were required in the future, they'd likely need to be through Lightwave. I have had zero issues with reliability, and have found the instrument to be very stable, only requiring seasonal truss rod adjustment.

I purchased this bass directly Lakland/Dan Laklin on 2/12/2001.

It had originally been made by Lakland and Lightwave as a prototype for the Lightwave pickup system. It was shown off around the factory for a year or so before it was decided that it would be too cost prohibitive to put into production. List price was $4,400.

It originally came with the prototype, one-piece Lightwave bridge and electronics. When the production version of the Lightwave pickup system was released, Carl at Lakland and Lightwave upgraded the bass to the more stable and durable hardware(the current monolith design) and electronics.

The controls are:

1. Volume
2. "Ice-tone"/piezo volume with a pull-pot for the magnetic pickup emulation circuit
3. Active bass cut/boost
4. Active mid cut/boost with a trim-pot on control cavity for frequency
5. Passive treble cut(like standard Fender tone knob)
