Bee Bass custom made seven string - studio instrument only - one owner

This is an incredible, versatile custom made seven string electric bass, made by Bee Basses.

I had this made by Bee Basses' owner, Fred, and we worked together on all the details of this unique instrument.

The body and neck are a combination of quilted walnut, maple, and purpleheart.

Here are some of the instrument’s features:

• Neck through design with a double truss rod
• Delano SBC 7 active HE/S-4 pickups: (Volume, pan, mid, split treble/bass, mid boost switch)
• After market custom made knobs by THG knobs 
• Zero fret at the nut
• Hand carved and assembled

I used this bass as a recording instrument only in my home studio in San Francisco, and never toured with it, or used as an active gigging bass. There are no dings or scratches, and from top to bottom it is in the same shape as when I received it from the maker. There are a couple of very minor indentations where the bass sits on the lap, which I took a picture of and included in the gallery.

You can hear the bass on two of my CDs, including the YouTube track I included in this posting. The Bee Bass can be heard on the track starting at 2:09. First, I use it to play the accompanying chords, so you can hear it’s potential as a chordal instrument, then double the bass line an octave higher.

While this is a guitar-like example, the bass growl of the instrument is amazing. You can hear the low end on this slow track, Solitude, starting at about 1:13. The track and other examples of the Bee are on my YouTube Chanel, featured throughout the CD "Fairfax in the Pacific." (I’m playing the Bee in a light style, so not intended to be the center of the mix.) 

I’m generally not a slap, pop bassist, though I’ve had slap bassists play it, and it sounds great – punchy, clear and lively. The Delano pickups are perfect for funk, rock, or other styles. Engineers love this bass, as there is no buzz coming from the pickups, with lots of gain. It pumps a lot of clean, clear sound!

I’m selling the instrument as I’m purchasing a new acoustic bass.
