1980 Sano 160R hand wired tube amplifier made in New Jersey by the Sano
Corporation from 1950 until 1980. Here are a couple of links to the
history of Sano.
Although there not a widely known amplifier they have quite a cult
following of those who own them and know what a nice quality amp they
are, I have this one plus a 1959 version.
When I got this amp the it was a bit week and had an awful hum so I did
some testing and found the filter capacitors and the powers tubes were
bad so I bought new filter caps and replaced the tubes with new Sovteck
EL84s. I also replaced a few resisters that were needed. I also replaced
the original speaker. It sounded pretty fuzzy and a bit scratchy so I
replaced it with a Celestin Vintage 30 and huge difference.
With the changes this amp is running great and sounds great and ready to gig.
I will include a labor guarantee if anything goes wrong with it Ill be
happy to fix it for free( my labor) you buy the parts, this is just an
old man’s hobby I like to work on old amps.
