About This Listing

Up for sale, an extremely rare Virtual DSP Midiaxe electric guitar and MIDI controller.  Virtual DSP made less than fifty of these instruments, which were expertly crafted in the USA using only premium woods and components.  The Midiaxe system was also marketed through Parker guitars and installed on a line of their instruments for a limited time, but this original Virtual DSP Midiaxe is where it all started!  Sound on Sound magazine gushed that the Midiaxe was the best MIDI controller they'd ever used, and the technology present in these guitars is truly a substantial upgrade over the typical, bulky MIDI modules offered by other companies to integrate with your guitar.  Featuring a figured, quilted maple top, mahogany body and birdseye maple neck, this Midiaxe is a gorgeous instrument; elegant to play and professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar!

The one-piece maple neck has a slim C profile with a semi gloss finish on the back of the profile, which is smooth to the touch and doesn't impede quick movements up the fretboard.  The ebony fretboard has immaculate original frets which have plenty of height and are just shy of a medium jumbo in terms of width.  The headstock sports a set of gold Sperzel locking tuners and the "Midiaxe" logo.

The body is outfitted with a trio of Seymour Duncan pickups wired to a five-way pickup selector.  Aside from the MIDI capabilities, this guitar delivers an incredible array of classic guitar tones, with Duncan humbuckers that have incredible sustain, great harmonic content and dynamic, pure tone.  The single coil in the middle position adds that classic sparkle and clarity you'd expect and balances well with the humbuckers for a more full and nuanced sound. Additionally, the guitar has a Fishman piezo pickup built into the bridge!  The control layout is very straightforward, with standard Master Volume and Tone controls for the Seymour Duncan pickups, and a stacked knob for peizo volume and control of the MIDI synth volume.  The two three-way micro toggles control switching of the tracking mode and the octave on the MIDI synth.  The body of the guitar has MIDI IN and OUT ports in addition to a conventional 1/4" output jack.

The Midiaxe comes complete with the original splitter box on a heavy duty cable, which allows you to both power the guitar (via the original included adapter) and separate the MIDI, peizo and traditional guitar pickup signals.

Cosmetically, this instrument is incredibly clean and has been well cared for since new, showing only a few faint finish scratches in the top coat and no other notable wear.  This guitar was fully tested via the previous owners MIDI capable setup and performs exactly as intended.  Here at the Guitar Bar, we're a bit more old school in terms of our guitar technology, but we can't help but agree that this Midiaxe is an extremely well made and powerful tool!  Extensive details on the functionality of Virtual DSP's MIDI hardware can be found with a simple online search for the Parker MIDIFly, which will be your best resource for technical questions regarding MIDI functionality!
