What's the deal with refurbished?

This instrument is stamped "2ND" on the back of the headstock and given a new serial number by the manufacturer-authorized refurbisher. Why? It was deemed to have a cosmetic imperfection or to need a repair. Check the description to see exactly why this instrument is considered refurbished. We scrutinize every instrument and pass along all information from the refurbisher so that you know exactly what you are getting. These are like new with little or zero play wear!

For 30 years the SR has given bass players a modern alternative. With its continued popularity, Ibanez is constantly endeavoring to answer the wider needs of a variety of players, at a variety of budgets. But no matter what the specs, the heart is the same—SR continues to excite with its smooth, fast neck, lightweight body, and perfectly matched electronics.

This particular bass suffered a blow to the end pin during shipping which caused some separation of the ash and walnut layers of the top between the bridge and the endpin. This has been very nicely repaired and sealed by an Ibanez-authorized refurbisher. We have included a close-up photo of the area so you can see for yourself. The repair is smooth to the touch and only visible from up close. There are a few small indentations on the side of the body, which we have included close-up photos of as well.​​​​ Aside from what we have described, this instrument is in mint condition.

How Does It Play?

We take the time to set up every instrument that comes through the shop. This six-string is certainly no exception. We have it playing fast and easy with a properly-adjusted neck and saddles. We have checked everything from nut slots to every pot and switch in the electronics. It is clean and ready to go.
