For about eight or nine years since I've been making straps, one pet peeve of guitarists everywhere is an unbalanced guitar or an overweight headstock that causes neck dive. This is most common on SG type guitars, but also many twelve strings and of course doubleneck guitars can suffer this as well. I've had customers ask me to sew counterweights into the back end of straps, build in lead shot, all sorts of kooky ideas to try to solve it. Most unbalances can be solved with the right inner lining in a strap and, pretty much all Well-Hung straps have some form of protection from that effect to varying degrees.
However, sometimes you get a guitar that seems incurable. You practically have to hold the neck up while you're playing, and this gets tiresome after about 2 songs. If you love that guitar and want to try the most extreme grip-tastic guitar strap possible, this one could likely be it. Promoting it is "anti-grav" is maybe a bit of hyperbole. You won't have to wear heavy boots, or tie yourself to a stage monitor to avoid floating away into space during your gig, guaranteed. But, this strap is majorly grippy! So grippy, I hung a strat off my shoulder with it, with just the front strap button engaged (see photo)...the back end strap wasn't even attached! PLEASE only try this with my proprietary PRO-PINS oversize strap buttons or some sort of mechanical strap locks please (no rubber beer gasket). Most stock guitar strap buttons will fail this test, and it's NOT a playing position, I tried it for demonstration purposes only.
Now depending on the material on your shirt it may not hang that way for you, I was wearing a black cotton blend sweatshirt, it worked fine enough for me to use a free hand to snap a photo. Your results may vary. Might just untuck your shirt.
The Well-Hung anti-gravity strap is minimum about 41" to about 55" long or a little more. It is 3" wide on the shoulder. It is made mostly of recycled tire rubber, about 3mm thick, and is quite strong. Adds a bit of "organic" give to your rig, maybe an inch of soft elasticity under guitar weight - not bouncy, but definitely shock-absorbing for sure, giving it a great feel, also kind of hugs your body. Now, not all guitarists want a grippy strap. some want one freely floatin' around for easy repositioning. This is partly because they're used to uncomfortable straps and repositioning has become engrained as a habit. Can also be a showmanship thing, they like to get fancy and look cool. Peace be with you, cool guitar dudes.
Other folks want their instrument to stay put where it belongs in a comfortable position, so they can concentrate on playing, lyrics, timing etc.
Due to requiring rubber traction on your shoulder, I don't pad or put lining on these. But, if you want a recycled tire rubber guitar strap that's padded in the shoulder, sure can do that for a bit extra, just ask when you order - but it won't be quite so grippy. The Well-Hung Anti-gravity guitar strap has real leather ends that connect to your guitar made from shiny black gator-embossed cowhide, securely glued and sewn to the rubber body and tail strap ends with T-90 industrial thread. STRONG stuff.
Other makers have tried to market recycled tire rubber straps in the past, I've done the searches. To me, mine looks better than others I've seen, more like a true guitar strap, not something your crazy uncle threw together, (though I could be described as a mad uncle myself sometimes). I currently have 4 prototypes just like this out there floating around being tested by actual guitarists - nobody is complaining! It is rather comfy, strong, does what I say it does.
I want to get a few more out there for other test pilots to try, and tell me what they think.
Recycling is good karma. Plus, what great conversation piece. And, I rarely make boring black straps, only cool black straps that are a little different, like this one.
Give one a try, tell me what you think. I believe it may become a legendary among neck dive sufferers everywhere.
See my feedbacks to find out what customers think about my designs, products and how I treat them. Not one of them is a liar, are all cool people. I'm inclined to treat customers with little bonus extra smile-making things in the package, unless you grind me down for a deal? No Swag for YOU!
If you purchase two straps I am happy to combine shipping.
