About This Listing

A super-rare Scully 280 16 track 2" Tape Machine. Germanium version! Will need a full restoration. We have several of these machines restored at Fairfax and they are our day to day recorders. Between a generous head bump fattening up the low end, and a smooth, warm top end, everything that hits this machine sounds more like a record. Its distortion characteristics are the sweetest and most musical of any machine we've used, and we've had quite a few.... This one has Sync/Master for a custom made remote control, which is also included. There is about 50 pounds of the finest UTC transformers hanging off the back of this thing, and when calibrated and aligned properly, the sound of STAX, Muscle Shoals, Electric Lady and many others is within much closer reach...

The only thing better than finding your dream machine is knowing who can help you get it in full fighting shape, and there is an amazing tech available to work on these machines, local to Los Angeles.
