Fully Restored Fisher 500C Stereo Tube FM Receiver - Classic Fisher Looks And Performance - Very Late Serial Number!

For sale is a fully restored Fisher 500C all tube FM stereo receiver. This beautiful looking and sounding unit that was very late in the production run. It has a more silver face vs the typical bronze faceplate. The electronic and cosmetic restoration are detailed below. Also included is a beautiful wood case with the original metal screen.

This amp has that wonderful Fisher sweetness that only gets better as you turn it up!! These are highly sought after classics for a reason - and this is the C variant which sports a slight power bump and the cool relay powered stereo indicator for the FM. These Fisher's have it all, the look and sound that exemplifies what the best engineering and parts can offer from that era. And with the restoration performed, one can expect plug and play reliable operation for many years to come!

The faceplate has a few marks that can be seen clearly in the pictures. However we still gave this unit the same amount of love we'd give any other unit. The faceplate was removed and carefully detailed and shined up nicely. We also replaced all of the knob brights, cleaned the dial glass and replacing the old lamps with new LED's that REALLY make the display lighting absolutely perfect without being overwhelming. The chassis itself is in very nice shape with clean lettering, no rust or corrosion issues and nice sheen. The wood case is very nice cosmetically with only a few marks - please study the pics carefully. The metal grille has some light creasing but is original and is nice overall as well and matches the faceplate color.

As far as the electronic restoration, only the necessary changes were made to ensure safe and reliable operation for years to come. We try to focus on maintaining originality as much as possible but replace all of the components in the power supply and bias supply, essentially rebuilding it from the ground up with fresh resistors, diodes and ultra high quality Nichicon and Panasonic capacitors for ultimate reliability. The bias supply was made adjustable so finding output tubes is a lot easier vs having  to buy pretested tubes. A thermistor was added to slow start the amp (good for the power transformer and tubes) and to reduce the typically high modern wall voltages to be more in-line with what the original design called for. While we always leave the original two prong cord on these units if possible, all associated internal circuits for the primary side are modernized for maximum safety and reliability. All sockets, switches and pots are carefully cleaned using the appropriate deoxit/faderlube treatments. The tuner is also carefully recapped and aligned on FM and stereo MPX for the absolute best radio performance available from this unit (and these 500's have truly incredible sounding tuners!).

The amplifier has all of it's original Fisher labeled tuner tuner tubes which still test strong. All preamp tubes are Fisher labeled Telefunken tubes. The 7591 power tubes are the best quad we could find in our collection with great matching and stellar performance - three are vintage Fisher labeled and one is a vintage Tung Sol!

This unit is as perfect as we are able to get any tube receiver/integrated amp. There are zero crackles, no hum or hiss... You can barely tell it's on until you start playing music! This beautiful unit is plug and play, ready to install and enjoy! It has that classic Fisher sound in spades!

The receiver will be shipped very carefully with extra padding and full insurance. Any tubes removed for shipping will be carefully packaged and labeled where they go back in the amp.
