Early USA Hamer Special beautifully flamed in a gorgeous sunburst. This guitar is in very good condition with enough dings dents and scratches to act its age. Comes in its original hardshell case that looks much older. ;-}
The guitar plays great. Very little fret wear as can be seen in the pictures.There is a little ding on the lower side of the fretboard at the first and second frets as can also be seen, but it doesn't impact playability from my perspective. I replaced the knobs and switch tips from the black to the gold that you see in the pics. Just a matter of preference on my part.
The other items that aren't original are the pickups. These early Specials came with zebra and cream Dimarzio wound/Hamer labeled pickups in neck and bridge respectively. These pickups are, obviously, black. I asked for some help over on the Hamer Fan Club forum and had my suspicions confirmed. These are later '80's Hamer labeled/DiMarzio wound pickups as pictured. They are known as Hamer Slammers, not to be confused with the later import Hamer guitars of the same name. They are wound hotter than the PAF type original pickups and got hotter as the decade wore on. I don't have a meter to check these, but they don't seem outrageous to me. Just a nice meaty sound that works great for classic rock or blues.
I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have on this and appreciate your interest in a great guitar.
