Vintage 1968 Gibson Trini Lopez Deluxe Red Sunburst

Growing up in the Latin “barrios” of Dallas, Texas, longtime Gibson
signature artist Trinidad “Trini” Lopez, III, learned quickly how to be a
survivor, a trait that would serve him well on his way to becoming one
of the premier guitar players and songwriters of the early 1960s. Gibson
Memphis is proud to once again honor the heritage of this 1960s pop
icon with the new 2009 Trini Lopez Reissue – a detailed recreation of
the popular Trini Lopez Standard from the mid 1960s. Gibson first
honored the “Original Latin Pop Superstar” in late 1964 by introducing
two very distinct models bearing his name. The first was the full-body
Trini Lopez Deluxe model, fashioned after Gibson’s Barney Kessel model,
and the other was a thin-body semi-hollowbody electric based on the
ES-335 and called the Trini Lopez Standard – the model we're selling
here.

This
is an original 1968 Trini Lopez signature model, with only a single
owner before it came to us. It was played regularly for years, and bears
some expected signs of age and wear. Take a close look at the pictures,
though, this guitar is in excellent condition for its age and rarity.
No rust or corrosion, never refinished or over-cleaned. All original
parts, with no add-ons or major repairs. All electronics are clean and
in working condition. Guitar has been professionally tested will ship
with a full set up from our staff luthier (who also happens to own the
shop).

On
a personal note, this guitar is super cool and RARE and plays really
well. The tone is classic vintage gibson - think 335 or Epiphone Dot. We
are thrilled to have it in the shop but we're sure it won't be here
long!

Shipped
securely in a period correct specialty-shape hardshell case. It is
unknown if this is the "original" case sold with the guitar, but it is
the case the original owner has stored this guitar in for the entirety
of his ownership. Because of the unique shape of the case, it is assumed
this is the original, but reference material on this subject is
