Kay "tulip" bass - late sixties/early seventies.
I have seen and owned several of these Kay basses over the years but this one is by far the best of them all. It has a tulip shaped body which is not very common; finished in sunburst and hardly showing a mark at all, so I guess it has had little use in around forty-five years or so. It has a black scratchplate etched in white with a flower and leaf design.
There is a single chromed pickup with volume and tone controls and an adjustable bridge/tailpiece still with its chrome cover, which is very unusual. The wooden finger rest is present too.
The maple neck is bolted on and is in a great condition; and the headstock has the "K" logo, string retainer and the original four on a side chrome covered tuners.
It is a really nice and totally original bass, apart from the top strap pin which was missing and I have supplied.
