You know what I do by now, right? Combine storytelling with guitar building to create unique, one of a kind guitars with a story built in!
The Original range are made by me here in the UK. I only make 3 to 4 a year, each one a labour of love. The Joe Doe by Vintage range is designed by me but manufactured in limited numbers by JHS, the people behind Vintage guitars.
So what's the story behind this, the Apollocaster? Read on!
Owner; Ray Davenport Jnr, Houston, Texas, USAAs well as being the Chief Mechanical Engineer working on the construction of the Apollo 11 lunar Excursion Module, Ray Davenport Jnr also played rhythm guitar in the NASA house band, One Small Step. Davenport Jnr built the Apollocaster guitar during breaks between shifts, but was fired in 1972 after it was discovered he had been stealing vital metal parts in the construction of the Apollocaster guitar.
