For your consideration is this incredibly vibey original Burst with significant authentic mojo, as seen on page 235 of Robbie Lawrence's book "The Les Paul Legacy; 1915-1963", opposite of Peter Green's famous flame top. Owned and loved by Bob Zinner (Bobby Z.) for nearly 45 years, this low circulation 'Burst remains in perfect structural condition with no (headstock nor neck heel) breaks, no repaired cracks, and no added Bigsby nonsense.
This guitar has been slightly modified over Zinner's ownership, including; the infamous Schaller tuner "upgrade," a brass nut (the original is included), 2 refrets, finish touch-up where pick wear has worn through the original finish, recent replacment pots (originals are in case), and a replacement pickguard.
I've owned only 4 different 'Bursts, and this one is without a doubt the best playing and best sounding of the bunch. The original Zebra and half-white P.A.F. pickups are incredibly powerful and balanced. The neck finish is nearly completely worn off in the open chord position, and it feels incredible. It is average weight, 8 pounds and 14 ounces, and is an all-around powerhouse of an instrument.
The attractive flame maple top displays above average figuring, and is well bookmatched with visible figuring the entirety of the top. The back of the guitar exhibits substantial belt buckle rash.
According to Bob Zinner, the anomalous 1st fret inlay is original, and it was like that when he originally acquired it sometime between '69-'71. He also claimed that it never had the "Les Paul Model" silkscreen logo on the headstock veneer. It has been thoroughly documented through photos during his ownership, and it was like that from day one. Several experts have inspected this in person, and they all agree that the inlay is original.
For those whom have always desired the best player's grade 'Burst, this is the one. All original 'Bursts can currently fetch $300K+, so if you're willing to trade cosmetic condition for proven provenance and an actual original 'Burst, this is the one.
PS Ask me questions, I will post answers in the description. Additional photos available upon request as I've reached the maximum available via the Reverb template.
