Electro Harmonix Op Amp Big Muff Reissue EHX Op Amp Big Muff Reissue: Unique and Iconic Fuzz

The Electro-Harmonix Op Amp Big Muff is one of the most elusive and unique Big Muff models. Finding an original can be time-consuming and costly, but EHX has brought this classic distortion and fuzz sound into the modern era at an affordable price. Sometimes referred to as the V4 or IC (for Integrated Circuit) Big Muff, this pedal is unique for its gain structure and the way it achieves that gain. Unlike other Big Muff models that use discrete transistors, the Op Amp Muff uses Op Amp ICs, resulting in a crunchier, more distortion-like sound with a distinct mid-range.

Classic Tone with Modern Enhancements

The Op Amp Big Muff features only three gain stages, achieved through Op Amp ICs for a unique sound. A key feature of this reissue is the tone-bypass knob, which removes the tone control from the circuit for a full-range, fat sound. This contrasts with the more focused, brighter tones available when using the tone control.

Compact and User-Friendly Design

EHX has miniaturized the housing for this reissue, making it pedalboard-friendly. It includes modern conveniences such as industry-standard 9V DC power and true bypass switching. The Op Amp Big Muff delivers the unique and iconic sound made famous by bands like the Smashing Pumpkins, with Billy Corgan even participating in official demos for this reissue.
