As drum sets with multiple toms became increasingly popular, the first rendition of a square Gretsch Badge with angled corners was introduced. The badge looked exactly the same upside-down as it did right-side-up which allowed the badge to look the same regardless of how the toms were mounted. The brass badge had mirror images the Gretsch name in block letters above and below the grommet and U.S.A. to the left and right.
