Electronics: In its original 1952 configuration, this guitar would have had p90s, pots dating to 1952 and Grey Tiger capacitors. All of this was replaced for the 57 conversion. The P90 routes were filled and rerouted for humbuckers. The pickups are Gibson "Patent Applied For" humbuckers (the bridge pickup cover is not original to the pickup). The guitar was fully rewired for the conversion. The wiring harness has an added treble bleed capacitor on the neck volume pot. The pots have 1956 date codes and the tone caps are authentic Bumblebees.

Pickup Measurements: 7.3k (neck), 8.2k (bridge)

Hardware: All of the hardware has been replaced as part of the 57 conversion. The plastic parts including the pickup rings, knobs, switch plate and switch tip are not era correct and are later replacement parts. The truss rod cover, jack plate and both back cavity covers are era correct for an early 50s Gibson. The guitar was outfitted with ABR-1 and stop tail piece (these are both authentic late-50s Gibson parts.

Weight: 8 lbs 1 oz

Cosmetic Condition: This vintage Gibson Les Paul is in good condition, with nice aging and wear present. There is checking and finish wear throughout the body and neck, along with various chips and dings. The fretboard has the remnants of finger divots left after the board was planed during a refret. There are diamonds added to the headstock, truss rod cover, and switch tip.

Modifications/Repairs: The guitar has been converted from its original 1952 Les Paul configuration to specs of a 1957 Les Paul. The entire guitar has been stripped and refinished in gold. The serial number on the headstock was stamped at the time of refinishing and is not original to the guitar. The original p90 routes have been filled and rerouted for humbuckers. The guitar was outfitted with ABR-1 and stop tail piece. The neck has been reset and refretted. The guitar was rewired with Gibson PAF humbuckers, 1956 pots and bumblebee capacitors. Diamonds were added in several places including the tip of the headstock above the logo, the truss rod cover and the switch tip. At some point this guitar suffered a headstock break. This was repaired using dowels.

Serial Number: 7 3997

Tech Notes: The guitar plays well with low action, and the frets show moderate play wear. This is a 1952 to 1957 Les Paul conversion. The guitar has been authenticated by Vintage Verified in Nashville and includes all documentation from them as to its authenticity as an early 50s Les Paul that was refinished and converted to 1957 specs. After the Vintage Verified inspection was done an authentic Gibson PAF pickup was installed in the neck position (this is the only modification that was made to the guitar after Vintage Verified).

Case Details: Original hardshell case with flight case.
