The Arturia MiniFreak 49 is a 6-voice polyphonic hybrid synthesizer with 49 full-size semi-weighted keys and a pressure-sensitive XYZ touch matrix. Two digital engines offer more than 30 oscillator modes, from virtual analog, FM and wavetable to granular, sample-based and physical modeling synthesis, and every voice runs through its own analog filter. One touch on the matrix moves several parameters at once, with pressure as a third dimension, so shaping a patch and playing it happen together. The MiniFreak V plugin carries the synth into your DAW.

Sound and Modulation

Filter FM drives the analog filters at audio rate from either engine, from smooth to aggressive. Voice Panning spreads basses and pads across the stereo field, and three effects slots hold 13 algorithms each, including a Self Vocoder and an External Input Vocoder. Engine 2 can process Engine 1, and the audio input can run through the whole voice. Expanded hands-on controls put both engines and all three effects slots within reach, and the original MiniFreak's presets load as they are.

Touch Matrix and Keyboard

The XYZ touch matrix handles performance, modulation and navigation on one surface: color-coded modulation assignment, swipe preset browsing, visualizers that show the sound moving, custom LFO shapes drawn by hand, and Freak Control with Macros, Gate and Spice in bipolar and vector layouts. The 49 semi-weighted keys respond to velocity and mono aftertouch, with aluminum pitch and modulation wheels at the left hand.
