This Roland Juno-60 is a must-have for any player looking to recreate the lush, authentic synth sounds of early 80s New Wave. Manufactured between 1982 and 1984, the Juno-60 built on the success of Roland’s Juno-6, introducing 56 patch memory presets and other improvements that set it apart from its predecessor, while preserving the features that made the Juno-6 famous. As an added bonus, this offering is paired with an original Roland JSQ-60 sequencer, allowing you to sequence and arpeggiate sounds to expand your creative boundaries with classic analog flair.
During its 80’s heyday, the Juno-60 was widely used by artists in genres ranging from new wave and synth-pop to electronic and dance music. Legends like Depeche Mode, The Cure, Enya and Eurythmics prominently featured the Juno-60 in their music, making it a defining sound of the era. Even decades after its release, the Juno-60 remains a beloved instrument among musicians and producers, thanks to its warm, classic analog tone.
What you should know
This Roland Juno-60 and accompanying JSQ-60 sequencer have been well cared for and are in excellent condition. The synthesizer exhibits only minor cosmetic marks, which is remarkable for an instrument of this vintage, and both units function perfectly.
What sets the Juno-60 apart is its incredible tone, driven by its digitally controlled analog oscillators and widely celebrated on-board chorus effects, which add a lush, warm texture to every note. The low-pass and high-pass filters bring a richness and flexibility that many modern synths struggle to replicate. Arpeggiation and note sequencing with the JSQ-60 expand its creative capabilities, providing endless possibilities for crafting intricate soundscapes.
Though lacking the MIDI functionality of its successor, the Juno-106, the Juno-60 still finds favor with enthusiasts and players alike, thanks to its superior analog sound. Whether you're a seasoned synth enthusiast or a collector seeking a timeless piece of musical gear, the Juno-60 offers an unmistakable sound that continues to inspire.
This Roland Juno 60 and JSQ-60 sequencer are in excellent condition and they both work perfectly. The Juno does have a few marks here and there but is very clean considering the age. The included Roland JSQ-60 is very clean and includes original box.
The Juno-60 Synthesizer features a classic Roland low-pass filter with resonance, complemented by a high-pass filter with a switch and rate knob for tonal shaping. Its onboard analog chorus offers two modes for rich modulation. The syncable arpeggiator provides rhythmic flexibility with Up/Up, Down/Down, and range options. A Digitally Controlled Oscillator (DCO), ranging from 1.5Hz to 50Hz, ensures stable tuning and diverse tonal possibilities.
The JSQ-60 sequencer allows for real-time or step recording, providing precise control over note input. It features adjustable tempo, rest, and gate time settings, enabling dynamic rhythm creation. The sequencer is also syncable, making it easy to integrate with other equipment for versatile performance and composition options.
