Tuning for Your Room

Three DSP switches on the back adapt the LYD 7 to where it sits. Bass Extension moves the low cutoff 10 Hz lower or higher: the lowest setting gives the deepest bass for mixing at moderate levels, and the highest gives the most output. Sound Balance tilts the whole response by 1.5 dB at each end toward a brighter or darker sound, and the Position switch adds a correction filter for speakers placed within 50 cm of a wall. A three-position sensitivity switch matches the speaker to consumer or professional output levels.

Drivers and Amplification

The 7-inch woofer uses Dynaudio's MSP (magnesium silicate polymer) cone with a low-mass aluminum voice coil and a vented ferrite magnet. The soft dome tweeter takes over at 4.3 kHz, and each driver has its own Class-D amplifier. The cabinet is a rear-ported bass reflex design, and an auto-standby mode shuts the amplifier section down when no audio is present and wakes it when signal returns.
