The Ibanez RG550 Genesis Collection electric guitar brings back the legendary design that shaped '80s rock guitar. Now with upgraded features for today's discerning musicians, this reissue of a hard rock classic is built for high-speed solos and crunchy rhythm work. The RG550's basswood body resonates with a warm yet articulate roar, captured by a trio of Ibanez V7, S1 and V8 pickups in an HSH configuration, offering a wide tonal range for any genre. The RG550 delivers the playability and tone that established its place in rock history. Ibanez's revered Super Wizard 5-piece maple/walnut neck enables lightning-fast runs across its rosewood fingerboard, while an Edge tremolo bridge handles extreme pitch bends with ease. Experience the genesis of Ibanez's legendary RG series and elevate your playing to new heights.

Super Wizard Neck Enables Effortless Shredding

The RG550 is built for speed. Its Super Wizard 5-piece maple/walnut neck provides rock-solid stability and a comfortably thin profile for a fast, frictionless feel. Jumbo frets make it easy to grab whole or half steps with precision, enabling rapid-fire runs and shred-worthy solos. A tilt joint connects the neck to the body, allowing upper fret access without the bulk of a sculpted heel.

Diverse Pickups Yield Aggressive and Vintage-Inspired Tones

The RG550 sports a trio of pickups for an array of tones from hard rock to blues. A V7 neck humbucker delivers a tight yet warm sound ideal for complex chords. An S1 single-coil in the middle position provides a classic Strat-like twang with added output. A V8 bridge humbucker supplies harmonic richness and grit, perfect for high-gain leads and heavy drop tunings. A 5-way switch lets you select pickups individually or blend them together.

Edge Tremolo Handles Extreme Pitch Manipulation

Dive bomb, raise pitch and return to perfect tuning with the RG550's Edge tremolo bridge. This double-locking system clamps the strings at the bridge and nut to prevent detuning during aggressive use. Adjustment screws let you control tremolo tension and bridge angle for buttery smooth pitch bends and flutters.

Modern Updates and Classic Style

While honoring the original, the RG550 includes modern refinements like black hardware and dot inlays. Its contoured basswood body provides comfort and tonal depth. Gotoh tuners help keep strings in tune through heavy playing. Combining '80s attitude with today's quality standards, the Ibanez RG550 delivers iconic tone and performance.
