Lowden S-50 2019 - Master Grade Madagascar Ebony / Sinker Redwood

Lowden S-50 2019 – Master Grade Madagascar Ebony / Sinker Redwood

Some instruments have a way of capturing your attention before you've played a single note. This 2019 Lowden S-50 is certainly one of them.

Featuring Master Grade Madagascar Ebony back and sides paired with a Master Grade Sinker Redwood soundboard, this S-50 brings together an especially striking selection of tonewoods with the distinctive craftsmanship and thoughtful design that have made Lowden instruments so highly regarded.

The back and sides display dramatic, flowing ribbons of dark and warm amber grain, with each change in the light revealing another layer of natural figuring. The Sinker Redwood top offers a beautiful visual contrast, with its rich coloration and fine grain providing a more understated complement to the expressive ebony.

It's the kind of guitar whose details reward a closer look.

Beyond its appearance, the instrument features a beautifully constructed five-piece Mahogany/Walnut neck, Ebony fingerboard with Maple binding, and elegant Tasmanian Blackwood body binding. Gold Gotoh 510 tuning machines with Ebony buttons complete the appointments.

The S-50's smaller body design and 630mm scale offer an inviting playing experience, and this particular guitar plays beautifully as it sits. There's something especially satisfying about an instrument that combines this level of visual character with a genuinely enjoyable playing experience.

An installed K&K passive pickup adds the convenience of amplification while preserving the guitar's clean, traditional appearance.
