Versatility can sometimes result from compromise, but the PRS SE Special Semi-Hollow electric guitar was designed to eliminate that tradeoff. Combining the resonance of a semi-hollow body, the flexibility of a humbucker/"single"/humbucker pickup configuration and PRS's intuitive switching system, this guitar opens the door to an enormous range of sounds without sacrificing playability or focus. A maple top over a mahogany semi-hollow body creates a lively, resonant foundation, while the addition of PRS's innovative Narrowfield DD "S" pickup brings an entirely new dimension to the SE Series. Paired with dual 58/15 LT "S" humbuckers, two mini-toggle coil taps and a 5-way blade switch, the PRS SE Special Semi-Hollow delivers everything from warm vintage textures and articulate cleans to punchy rock tones and modern gain sounds. Finished with PRS-designed hardware, a patented tremolo bridge and iconic bird inlays, this instrument is built for players who refuse to be limited to a single style.

Semi-Hollow Maple and Mahogany Construction With Enhanced Resonance

The SE Special Semi-Hollow starts with a classic PRS tonewood recipe elevated by semi-hollow construction. A maple top with figured maple veneer sits atop a mahogany body, creating a balanced voice with articulate highs, focused mids and warm low-end response. The single f-hole introduces additional air and openness while subtly enhancing sustain and resonance. PRS's signature shallow violin carve completes the design, delivering the elegant contours and visual sophistication that have become synonymous with the brand.

58/15 LT "S" Humbuckers and Narrowfield DD "S" Pickup

The pickup system is the centerpiece of the SE Special Semi-Hollow. A pair of 58/15 LT "S" humbuckers provide vintage-inspired warmth, clarity and harmonic complexity, while the Narrowfield DD "S" middle pickup introduces a unique voice that bridges the gap between traditional humbuckers, single-coils, mini humbuckers and P-90-style response. Together, the three pickups create a remarkably broad tonal palette capable of covering jazz, blues, fusion, rock, pop and modern session work without ever feeling overly specialized.

Advanced Switching Unlocks Exceptional Flexibility

The SE Special Semi-Hollow pairs its three-pickup architecture with one of the most versatile control systems in the SE lineup. A 5-way blade selector works alongside two mini-toggle coil taps to dramatically expand available sounds, allowing players to move effortlessly between full humbucker authority, glassy single-coil-inspired textures and numerous in-between voices. Despite its depth, the layout remains intuitive and easy to navigate, encouraging experimentation without overwhelming the player.

Wide Thin Maple Neck for Familiar PRS Playability

A 25" scale length maple neck carved to PRS's Wide Thin profile delivers a comfortable balance between speed and substance. The 22-fret rosewood fingerboard features a 10" radius that accommodates expressive bends, fluid lead work and confident chord playing across the entire neck. Multi-ply neck construction, PRS bird inlays and the signature SE headstock logo complete a playing experience that feels unmistakably PRS from the first chord.

Roadworthy Hardware and Endless Musical Possibilities

The SE Special Semi-Hollow is equipped with PRS-designed tuners with wing buttons and the company's patented tremolo bridge for dependable performance night after night. Together, these components provide smooth operation, stable tuning and expressive vibrato capability while maintaining the instrument's overall balance and responsiveness. Its combination of semi-hollow resonance, advanced switching and diverse pickup voices makes it equally comfortable handling jazz standards, blues phrasing, ambient textures, classic rock rhythms and modern gain applications. Available in multiple finishes and supplied with a gig bag, the PRS SE Special Semi-Hollow is a true do-it-all instrument built for players who prefer to define their own sound rather than be defined by a single genre.
