Built from a 9 mm, 11-ply G-Mahogany shell, it delivers the full-bodied resonance that only thick shells can produce. A 2.3 mm flanged steel hoop keeps the sound open and breathing, while the outer Tineo ply adds a striking reddish-brown grain. As part of TAMA’s flagship STAR line, it reflects the brand’s legacy of meticulous Japanese engineering and innovation that continues to shape the sound of modern drumming. Every hit reminds you why drummers around the world trust TAMA to build gear that speaks with heart and precision.

Discover the TAMA STAR Reserve Thick G-Mahogany Shell

The 9mm, 11-ply G-Mahogany shell forms the foundation of this snare’s tone—thick, resonant and naturally balanced. Its dense construction enhances low-end warmth while controlling overtones, giving rimshots a defined crack and ghost notes precise articulation. The deep shell projects with authority, making it well-suited for drummers who value clarity and presence. Crafted under TAMA’s STAR Reserve program, each drum reflects the meticulous build quality and acoustic detail that define the series.

TAMA Flanged Steel Hoops and Tineo Outer Ply

The 2.3mm flanged steel hoops maintain the G-Mahogany shell’s natural resonance, extending sustain while keeping articulation tight and defined. This design lets rimshots project cleanly and ghost notes stay controlled, giving the snare a balanced, open tone across a wide tuning range. The outer ply of Tineo wood adds visual character, with its reddish-brown hue and vertical grain catching stage light in subtle detail. Handcrafted under the STAR Reserve program, it reflects the precision, durability and sonic integrity that have made TAMA a trusted name in drum design for generations.
