Reloop CONCORDE BLACK performance cartridge with spherical stylus

Reloop Concorde Black
The Reloop Concorde Black is an allround cartridge system designed for a wide variety of applications, making it a versatile choice for anyone working across different styles of turntable use. It sits within Reloop's broader Concorde cartridge lineup, alongside models such as the Concorde 20 Years, Concorde Blue, Concorde Green, and Concorde Vibe. What sets the Black apart within this family is its combination of a balanced overall sound, a spherical stylus, and construction that keeps vinyl wearout low — all wrapped into a cartridge that's built to be a genuine all-rounder rather than a specialist tool for just one style of play.

Sound Character
At the heart of the Concorde Black's appeal is its sound signature. Reloop describes it as delivering a balanced sound with a slight accentuation in the bass range. This means the cartridge doesn't lean toward being thin or overly bright; instead, it offers a fuller, slightly bottom-heavy tonal presentation while still maintaining overall tonal balance across the frequency spectrum. This kind of sound character tends to suit a broad range of musical genres, since it neither overemphasizes highs nor loses definition in the low end. Reloop specifically highlights that these "especially good sound characteristics" are part of what emphasizes the Concorde Black's quality as a strong all-rounder — a cartridge that performs reliably and pleasingly regardless of the specific listening or mixing context it's placed in.
Versatility and Use Cases
The Concorde Black is explicitly positioned as an allround cartridge system with many applications. It's suited to general playback and listening scenarios where a balanced, musical sound is the priority, but it doesn't stop there — it can also be used for scratching. This dual capability is notable because cartridges optimized purely for scratching often trade away tonal balance and general playback quality in favor of durability and tracking under aggressive handling. The Concorde Black instead aims to bridge that gap, offering a single cartridge that can move between more delicate, sound-focused use and more physically demanding scratch techniques without requiring a swap to a different, more specialized cartridge.
Build Quality
Underpinning both the sound and the versatility of the Concorde Black is its build. Reloop notes that it boasts low vinyl wearout characteristics, meaning it's designed to be gentler on records over repeated plays — an important consideration for anyone protecting a valuable or frequently-used vinyl collection. It's also equipped with a spherical stylus, a shape commonly associated with durability and consistent tracking performance. Together, these elements are called out on the product page itself, which highlights the Concorde Black as an "ideal allrounder" with a "spherical stylus" as its two headline selling points. This combination of low wear, dependable stylus geometry, balanced-but-bass-accented sound, and dual-purpose usability (general play and scratching) is what defines the Concorde Black's identity as a flexible, dependable cartridge system.
Why We Love This
Our gear experts appreciate the Concorde Black for its versatility — it's one cartridge that handles multiple roles instead of forcing a choice between specialized gear. Its balanced sound with a slight bass accentuation gives recordings warmth and body across genres, while the spherical stylus and low vinyl wearout mean prized records stay protected over time. Add in its capability for scratching, and musicians get a dependable all-rounder suited to both careful listening sessions and more energetic, hands-on turntablism.
