This is a prime example of the most sought after version of one of the true monophonic heavyweights: a recently restored vintage MiniMoog Model D. It is in EXCELLENT shape for a synth 52+ years old.

It has CA3046 oscillator boards, they are the second version and the most stable and, in my opinion, best sounding. The MiniMoog has midi and Kevin LIghtner's legendary Opto-Key upgrade. The action on the keyboard is really the best case scenario for a Model D, it's fantastic.

It has been thoroughly teched and restored by the excellent tech Bob Augustin in Fall of 2026.

Here is the list done by Bob Augustin:

Work done:

- diagnosis of technical condition of Minimoog. Several keys are very 'sticky' when you press them down they won't come up again. However, all key (contacts) are triggering very well, never seen a Minimoog with such great working key contacts: after disassembly, it was discovered that the key contact board was replaced with an Opto-key optical key sensor upgrade, which also features MIDI in/output. This way the common recurring issues with key contacts are resolved permanently.

- complete disassembly of keyboard and all keyboard keys. There was no lubricant applied when someone replaced the keyboard bushings in the past. With great care, applying the proper Dow Corning no.7 "release compound" lubricant to all 49 key bushings and 'key actuation points' as well as the 'bell caps' under the keys. Aligning the 'key rods' so that every key has an equal, right level of resting heigt. Also, several black keys (around 10) had a somewhat loose plastic top on the metal key frame. This resulted in a 'clacky' sound when playing the keys. Removal of the plastic top so that it could be glued to the metal key frame again with contact adhesive.

- re-assembly of keyboard and mounting it back in the wooden housing (with additional wooden standoffs for a better mounting position)

- cleaning of the Cinch/Jones connectors of the keyboard assembly as well as the left-hand pitch/modwheel control section. with Kontakt 60, Kontakt WL and Kontakt 61.

- removal of all four PCB's from the mounting frames/card edge connectors. Thorough cleaning of inside of device.

- cleaning of all rocker switches with Kontakt 60, Kontakt WL and Kontakt 61, and cleaning a few (open-style) potmeters with Deoxit D100, IPA and Deoxit F5.

- thorough cleaning of gold-plated card edge connectors of the four PCB's and their mating receptors in the metal housings. The card edge connectors very lightly polished with a glass fibre brush pen.

- one leaky axial capacitor was found on the power supply PCB. After desoldering it turned out it was completely dried out/broken as well. Replaced it with a new Suntan 100uF/25V axial capcaitor.

- performing a full calibration and tuning. Starting with the exact adjustment of the +10,00V and -10,00V power rails, setting the A=440Hz right, filter calibration right and then the three VCO's were tuned as tightly as possible (as tight as the 52 year old components make it able to do). The fragile VCO tuning trimmer potmeters were already replaced with Bourns multiturns, so that results in more stable tuning with less tuning drift.

- thorough functional test and endurance test of device. Passed. Device plays and sounds very well.
