*Serviced & Rare* 1972 Peiker TM40 Studio Dynamic Microphone TM-40 TM40N AKG

Here's a real rarity! From the early 60's until mid 70's, Peiker did a relatively run of studio dynamic microphones, and here is an exceptionally well preserved example of the TM-40 N. This was their flagship dynamic studio microphone. Complete down to the individual mic's spec sheet, and price card.

I believe this is an original Peiker capsule, although some sources online mention Peiker may have been purchasing capsules from AKG. In any case, it sounds really nice.

What a cool looking microphone, and big! It's almost the exact same length as a 421. The large capsule basket is super attractive, and the mic is in near mint cosmetic shape.

This would be a great microphone for all things electric, or for a vocal with a different character than you get out of the more common studio dynamics. It would be excellent for snare or other drum kit elements too.

If you read up on these online, people tend to point to them sounding pretty varied. Happy to provide sound samples & comparisons on request. It's full bodied, with an impressively rich low body. The continuous bass roll off switch is handy for keeping low end out, especially at close proximity. It also has a wide frequency response, up to 18K, though it does taper fairly steeply in the transient end.
