The Absolute Hybrid Maple series places a dense wenge ply between layers of maple. This shell design gives the drums a clear attack and full body while responding to both soft strokes and more forceful playing. Yamaha uses 3.0 mm aluminum die-cast hoops to add focus and definition, while YESS III mounts allow the tom shells to vibrate with minimal restriction.

Yamaha offers the line in a range of sizes. Common options include 10" x 7" and 12" x 8" rack toms, 14" x 13" and 16" x 15" floor toms, and a 22" x 16" bass drum.
