Every time an Alleva Coppolo comes in I get the same experience. It has been a while since I played one, I plug it in, tune it up, and the moment I hear it through the interface the reaction is always the same: good lord, this sounds good.

This LG5 Standard in Black Micro Flake Metallic is a particularly sharp looking instrument. Custom painted black metallic neck and headstock, white pickguard, and chrome hardware: classic, cohesive, and just right. The Indonesian Rosewood fingerboard is exceptional, as it always is with Jimmy's instruments. He consistently sources some of the finest quality Indonesian Rosewood available and every bass proves it.

Something worth noting: for most of the demo track associated with this bass I was not using the preamp at all. The bypassable two-band boost-only preamp was fully bypassed for the majority of what you hear. The preamp only comes in when I boost the bass slightly for some fingerstyle passages and when I solo the bridge pickup. Everything else is pure passive output straight into the interface. And it sounded like that. That is the Alleva Coppolo difference: the instrument is so resonant and musical in passive that the preamp feels like a bonus rather than a necessity. But if you want the full package with Jimmy's two-band preamp on tap when you need it, the LG5 Standard is the way to go.
