Manufactured at the Alvarez Yairi Factory, Kani, Gifu Perfecture, Japan

The Inside Scoop from St. Louis Music: Interestingly, a past Reverb listing archive from a former St. Louis Music employee confirms the factory narrative: the MD 5000 stamp was actually the mistake. The official intended model designation for the production run was MD 500, but early factory prints erroneously added the extra zero. [1] Mine is an early run MD 500 on the label! From numerous sources, and I condense: "The Alvarez MD 500(5000) is a legendary, premium all-solid wood dreadnaught representing the absolute Pinnacle of Alvarez's detail to attention, wood selection, manufacturing standards and sound production. MANUFACTURED IN 2007 ONLY!!!

All production was under the direction of one of the best guitar builder's ever, Kazuo Yairi. You should know the Yairi name if you are looking at this. If not, educate yourself-Google his name. PLAYERS: Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa, Richard Fortus, Jerry Garcia, Paul McCartney, Bob Weir, Dave Mason, Carlos Santana and Paul Simon to name a few!!!

Because acoustic players recognize that this is the best-sounding non-Yairi guitar Alvarez ever built (frequently noted for beating out standard Martin HD-28s in pure projection), they do not penalize the MD500 label—they celebrate it as the "correctly labeled" rarity. • A final word before the Specs. From Acoustic Guitar Forum post, "I just played one of these(MD 500) at the Guitar Center. It was pretty Hoover Dam(censor) nice. The Brazilian, the projection, and it beat out several HD-28's, Taylor "8" series and some Gibson J-45's I played"!
