Lion Head Violin - Gliga Maestro Line

From my personal collection, for sale is my Gliga Lion Head violin with a bone nut, inlaid fingerboard, fresh Tonica strings, a new ebony chin rest and tail piece, as well as Wittner Fine Tune pegs (a $250 CAD value to purchase and install).

Truly a one of a kind instrument that I have loved since 2020, it has a wonderful tone - a good balance between punch and warmth, nice projection, and is a work of art in itself.

These retail for just over $4500 CAD and are handmade in Gliga’s shop in Romania.

From Gliga’s description of their Maestro line of violins:

“This violin stands out with its intricately carved lion's head scroll, a symbol of strength and elegance. Crafted from carefully selected tonewoods, the instrument offers a rich, resonant sound that meets the demands of advanced musicians and collectors alike. Each Gliga Maestro violin undergoes a meticulous setup to ensure optimal playability and tonal quality. Experience the deep, warm tones and striking visual appeal that make this violin a true work of art. Perfect for the discerning violinist seeking an instrument with character and history.

* Hand-Carved Lion's Head Scroll: A carved lion's head replaces the traditional scroll, giving the instrument a unique look.

* Double Purfling: Intricate double inlaid purfling frames both the top plate and back, accentuating its contours.

* Highly Flamed Tonewoods: Crafted with a tight, straight-grained spruce top and a striking two-piece back made of deeply flamed maple with a pronounced tiger-stripe pattern.

* Rich Warm Varnish: Finished in a warm, golden-amber oil varnish that highlights the depth of the wood grain and flame.”
