Talk about a holy grail! This is a first year 1942 Gibson LG-2 with the famed “Banner” on the headstock. The best of the best, seriously! The sound of this thing is jaw-dropping. The gentleman that owned it before myself was a gigging musician in Alaska that unfortunately passed away during COVID. You can tell he greatly loved this guitar.. and I don’t blame him.
It is a bit rough cosmetically, but make no mistake, this thing plays exceptionally well due to the neck reset and refret. The neck feels wonderful and fills the hand perfectly. It does have a patch job on the bass side that is pictured. Although it is a bit of an eye-sore, it’s completely solid. There are a few back cracks that have also been addressed. Lots of nice checking throughout. It had a full set-up of course with a new saddle that was left nice and tall for ultimate action adjustability depending on the players preference. This is a gigging ready/studio ready tool that is ready to continue its legacy and do what it has always done.. get the frickin’ job done!
