While the standard LG-2 is made with a spruce top, mahogany body, and mahogany neck, they can occasionally be found with a maple body and neck or a mahogany top, depending on what materials were available to use. Similarly, many wartime Gibsons can be found with a hard ebony block inserted into the neck instead of a truss rod, due to the low availability of scrap metal.
