Zildjian 1950-53' K Zildjian Istanbul 20" Thin Ride Old Stamp Type IIIa 1,862g

We have received a K Zildjian Istanbul cymbal, believed to have been manufactured between 1950 and 1953.

This vintage Zildjian cymbal is immensely popular among jazz and blues drummers for its distinctive "dry" or "aged" sound.

"Old K" cymbals were produced at the Istanbul factory in Turkey until around 1977; following the factory's closure, the "K Zildjian" trademark rights were transferred to the Canadian factory. K Zildjian cymbals made in Turkey up to that time are known as "Old Ks," and the "Old Stamp" models—particularly those from before 1959—are highly prized today as top-tier vintage cymbals.

This specific unit bears a stamp identified as "Old Stamp IIIa." It is a rare type with a short production run, making it an uncommon find.

A distinctive feature is the "BIG K" stamp, where the "K" and "ZILDJIAN & CO" are positioned slightly lower than usual. Additionally, a star symbol is visible inside the crescent moon; this specific stamp type is believed to have been produced until around 1956. The Stamp IIIa is also characterized by relatively bold lettering for the word "ZILDJIAN."

The item is in "player's condition." There is a crack visible at the center hole, and a total of 11 holes have been drilled into the cymbal itself; rivets are installed in two of these holes.
