Here is a MTD Kingston Z5 in almost pristine condition. It has a mahogany body with a burl maple top, the fretboard is rosewood with a maple neck. The only blemish I can find is a very minor nick on the black seem just beneath the bridge, as shown in the last photo.
This bass has been heavily upgraded!
Hardware:
Hipshot USA ultralight tuners
Hipshot B style bridge
Electronics:
Nordstrand Big Split pickups
Nordstrand 3 band preamp
The control knobs are:
Volume(push/pull for passive)-Blend-stacked Bass and Treble-Mid(push/pull frequency)-passive Tone
The preamp has a gain knob to adjust output levels and is running on (2) 9 volt batteries, so the combined 18 volts makes for more clean headroom.
Copper lining was installed in the control cavity and behind both pickups to make for a no buzz situation.
It’s a really nice ride, sounds great with Nordstrand electronics and the action on the fretboard is super tight, very easy to fly around. The only reason I’m selling it is because I just upgraded another seafoam green Kingston Z with a 4 band Mike Pope Flexcore preamp and Nordstrand Dual Coil pickups.
