Every repair shop has one: a 12-string leaning in the corner with a Post-it that just says "needs neck reset," action high enough to floss your teeth on, gathering dust because nobody wants to pay to fix it. That's not a hypothetical. That's just what happens to old 12-strings with a glued neck once the repair estimate climbs past what the guitar's actually worth. The guitar doesn't get fixed. It becomes wall art.

Twelve-strings have earned that reputation honestly. Strap on a full-size dreadnought version and you're wrestling a canoe — big body, wide neck, a headstock that looks like it's smuggling a second guitar. Now double the string tension of a normal guitar and let it pull on that neck joint for a couple decades, and you've got the reason 12-strings end up in that corner in the first place.

Taylor sidestepped that entire disaster with its bolt-on NT neck. No glue, no steam, no torch — just precision shims and a socket wrench. On a traditional glued neck, that same fix means the guitar disappears for ages. And once you add in the refret that usually comes with it, the bill can run anywhere from several hundred dollars to well over a thousand — enough, on plenty of guitars, to make the repair cost more than the instrument. That's how 12-strings actually die. On this one, if the neck angle ever needs a nudge, it's an in-and-out job, not a guitar-killing expense.
