Why 2009 is interesting
The big distinction from the older Clapton Strats is the pickup change.
The early production Clapton Strat used Fender/Lace Sensor Gold pickups. Fender replaced those with Vintage Noiseless pickups around 2001. So a 2009 Blackie with the Noiseless pickups is a later-generation production Clapton Strat, not an older Lace Sensor model.
And this is important: the tweed case is not a replacement or aftermarket oddity. Fender's 2009 catalog specifically says the Eric Clapton Stratocaster included a Vintage Tweed Hardshell Case.
