Description:
Up for sale is an incredibly well-preserved, first-generation 1966 Vox Buckingham V-112 amplifier head in very clean cosmetic and fully functional condition. Finding early solid-state Thomas Organ-era Vox heads that haven't been heavily modified or neglected is exceptionally rare. This particular unit has just been professionally bench-tested, cleaned, and thoroughly serviced by our technician of 40 years. It sounds absolutely fantastic, delivering the pure mid-60s British Invasion chime and bite it was built for with zero background noise or scratchy pots.

Historical Authenticity & Date Codes:

• Serial Number: 940306
• EIA Source/Date Code: 304 6610 (Stackpole Carbon Co., manufactured the 10th week of 1966).
• Originality: Fully original factory specifications, including the fragile original rotary power switch which operates flawlessly.

40-Year Amp Tech Service Notes:
To ensure maximum reliability for the next owner, this amp was given a complete professional cleaning and going through:

• Reverb System Upgrade: The original, notoriously failure-prone factory reverb pan has been replaced with a brand-new, premium Accutronics 2-spring tank. It is properly impedance-matched to the circuit, giving the head a deep, lush, and incredibly reliable spring reverb.
• Full Cleaning: All potentiometers, inputs, rear jacks, and internal switches were deep-cleaned and treated with high-grade contact cleaner.
• Circuit Inspection: Fully bench-tested to verify stable power output, ensuring the vintage transistors and modular hand-wired preamp boards are running smoothly at factory spec.

Cosmetic Condition:
Cosmetically, this head is very clean for it's age. The original Tolex is in beautiful condition with minimal small nicks or tears as seen in pictures. The iconic Vox grill cloth and front logo are entirely intact, clean, and tight. The black metal corners and control panel display exceptionally minimal wear for an instrument of this vintage.

• 3 Independent Channels: Normal (with Top Boost & Tremolo), Brilliant (with Mid Resonant Boost), and Bass (with Tone-X sweep).
• Built-in "Watchdog" audio limiter.
• Reverb and tremolo circuits work beautifully and are fully switchable.

Gordy's Music has become a Detroit institution! Our shop was used as a filming location for a few films like "Miracle in Motor City" a Christmas movie on Lifetime (featuring Smoky Robinson). Lenny Kravitz and his entire group, right about the same time I was selling many guitars to and chauffeuring around Dee Dee Ramone who had an apartment a block down from my house.
