The 2009 Gibson Custom Shop 1960 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS captures the look, feel, and unmistakable attitude of one of the most desirable Les Pauls ever produced, presented here in a striking Ebony finish.
Often referred to by collectors and players as an R0, the 1960 Reissue represents the final year of the original single-cutaway Les Paul Standard era. One of the defining characteristics of the 1960 model is its slimmer neck profile, giving players the classic Les Paul experience with a quicker, more streamlined feel than the typically larger late-'50s neck shapes.
The VOS (Vintage Original Spec) treatment gives the nitrocellulose lacquer and hardware a subtly aged appearance without the heavier wear of a fully relic'd instrument. Against the Ebony finish, the cream binding, pickup rings, and appointments create a particularly sharp, elegant look.
Built by the Gibson Custom Shop in 2009, this R0 combines the traditional Les Paul recipe of a mahogany body, carved maple top, set mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard with dual humbuckers for the thick sustain, warm cleans, singing lead tones, and muscular overdrive that made the Les Paul legendary.
