Two different 3-way toggle switches give you NINE DIFFERENT RAT MODES for YOUR SIGNATURE RAT TONE.

The FAT SWITCH lets you switch between:

·TURBO RAT (Switch Up) for a much louder overall output volume and less initial compression. The clipping is harder and less saturated yielding a more open, punchier Marshall Super Lead tone

·RAW RAT (Switch Middle) for high-output, wide open signal path for a powerful clean boost (distortion set low) or a raw, aggressively overloaded op-amp distortion (distortion set high)

·CLASSIC RAT (Switch Down) for aggressive, compressed distortion tone with sharp-edged clipping peaks that we all love

From the RUETZ SWITCH, you get:

·ROCK RAT (Switch Up) for classic compressed, high-mid-focused RAT crunch

·RUETZ RAT (Switch Middle) for low gain overdrive with flattened frequency response letting more bass pass through (making it great for bass guitar or a more open, less fuzzy tone)

·REFINED RAT (Switch Down) for a slightly tamed distortion, a mild reduction in harsh high-mid frequencies, and a slightly fuller, rounder low-end response compared to the stock RAT, without making the tone overly muddy or dark

TRUE BYPASS SWITCH

The ProCo Fat Ruetz Turbo RAT 9 uses a unique true-bypass switching arrangement—often referred to as the "Rat Bypass"—that achieves true bypass alongside an indicator LED using a standard DPDT. It gives you pure clarity when it’s on AND off!

SWEET SPOT MOD (SSM)

With a standard ProCo Rat, it goes from a clean-ish boost to heavy, saturated distortion very quickly within the first quarter turn of the Distortion knob. The SSM fixes this issue by altering the pot taper, dramatically shifting the taper of the potentiometer to behave closer to a linear sweep, spreading the "crunch" and "overdrive" zones across the entire rotation of the knob instead of cramming them into a tiny fraction of the turn. The beauty of it is that it changes how the knob sweeps, but it does NOT alter the signature RAT tonal blueprint or frequency response.
