A Partscaster combining a Fender American Performer Stratocaster neck with a Fender American Special Stratocaster HSS body.

The maple neck features a rosewood fingerboard, large headstock, and Rotomatic-style tuners. It has a comfortable 9.5" radius, medium jumbo frets, and a 22-fret neck with a fingerboard extension.

The back of the neck has a smooth satin finish, offering a fast and comfortable playing feel.

The body is from an American Special Stratocaster HSS. It has no serial number, but records from when the body was previously sold at Astronauts Guitars indicate that it was made in 2010.

The American Special was a USA-made Fender series that carried on the concept of the earlier Highway One series while offering a more accessible price point. The gloss finish gives it a more refined appearance than the satin finish used on the Highway One.

The alder body is equipped with an HSS pickup configuration:

– Texas Special single-coils in the Neck and Middle positions
– Atomic Humbucker in the Bridge position

The guitar delivers a broad tonal range, from crisp, articulate Stratocaster-style cleans to powerful, driven Bridge humbucker sounds.

It also features Fender's Greasebucket Tone Circuit. The tone can be rolled back to produce a smoother sound while retaining clarity and definition, without becoming overly dull. The tone control affects the Neck and Bridge pickups but does not affect the Middle pickup.

The neck is straight, with no warping or twisting, and the frets show almost no wear. The guitar offers very good playability.

This is a Partscaster made from parts of two separate USA-made Fender instruments. It is priced accordingly, but the neck and body match well in terms of fit and playability.

The large headstock, rosewood fingerboard, and practical HSS layout make this a particularly useful specification.

A great choice for the player who is comfortable with a Partscaster or specifically wants this combination of features.
